Coming off of his highly anticipated milestone EP ‘33’, ‘Blast Off’ is a sensational RnB track that brings together smooth heartfelt vocals, vigorous lyricism, and trap beats beautifully wrapped in a pristine production. Incorporating classic RnB melodies with modern trap beats, the song is the perfect fusion of tradition and innovation. Just the right amount of bass and the tasteful minimalism of the instruments and several layers of vocal harmonies set the stage for Dorian to flaunt his vocal finesse and he does not shy away! 1. Tell us about the song and what it’s about. Did you have any specific theme in mind? And If I switched on your media player right now, which artist or song will I most likely hear?

Dorian: Hello! “Blast Off” is about conquering your fears and or any of the strongholds keeping you from taking a leap of faith into your dreams. While I had my personal life in mind, I wanted it to resonate with anyone ready to take flight into their wildest aspirations.

If you turned on my Tidal player, you’d probably hear Dave East, SZA, Monica, Beyonce, or some oldies classics!

2. What were your inspirations? Did anything happen during the making of this song that you found particularly funny or amusing?

Dorian: It’s funny, when writing this song, I just kept envisioning me “blasting off” from under this dog pile of fear and dark energy and shooting into the sky. I wanted this song to feel inspiring and motivating in that way. “They thought we couldn’t do it, but we did…!”

3. What were the creative challenges that you faced in making this song?

Dorian: I didn’t necessarily face any challenges, but I did push and challenge myself vocally. I wanted to lace the song with really lush backgrounds that would help give the song a feeling of being “coached” or pushed to greatness.

4. In what aspects do you think your audiences are gonna connect with the song? Were there any personal messages you were trying to get across to a certain someone?

Dorian: I wanted this song to be relatable to the average person looking for the next level in their life. So that level of passion and emotive singing is very evident in the song. But I also loved that I dabbled in the ”drill” sound because it is very popular right now in music. I wanted to tackle that vibe, without it feeling forced.

5. Do you have a favorite motto, phrase, or piece of advice, you try to live or inspire yourself by? And do you have a specific vision or goal set in your mind that you would like to achieve in the near future?

Dorian: “God is with me through it all.” I try to remember that with everything I experience in my life. That if I am brought to a situation, that it is meant, and he will bring me through it! This year in 2023, I really want to perform more and make a lot more content on YouTube. Shifting my focus from not just music artistry but full-on content creation. I am excited!
