Break The Matrix (Episode Two) by Moon and Aries: Review
Canadian singer and songwriter Jordana Moon alongside German composer & producer Tom Aries joins their melodic consciousness once again in “Break The Matrix (Episode Two)”. Defining the wholesome taste of pop with a psychedelic and celestial twist, the duo captivates your senses with charming melodies.
Initiating the musical path with a hopeful route in “Codes and Circles”, Moon and Aries create a tune that is pleasing to decipher with your ears. Leading with an electronica piece, the futuristic vibe is countered with an emotional pop-ballad-like piano piece, and Moon’s sweet vocals accompany the track. There’s a hint of nostalgia in Moon’s voice, something about it serves as a reminder of a bygone era when my teenage mind found musical comfort. Riding the melodic wave onto “The Butterfly Effect” allured me to the space-like aromas of synthesizer pieces. There’s such an atmospheric vibe from the artists’ work, the harmonies and the overall production with the instrumentation give it a very surround-sound vibe.
The single encompasses three delightful tracks, exploring the first two and making myself onto the last tune “Rescued” felt like a musical salvation. The main hook has this orchestral almost chamber-style arrangement that just grips you. On top of that, the emotional backdrop of keyboard pieces is a soothing attachment, and that powerful bassline doesn’t shy away either. Moon’s vocal chops are impressive and she really goes into a passionate state with a moving singing performance.
