Brightwell & Moran release entrancing new song ‘River Flow’
The debut track from Portland, Oregon-based Brightwell & Moran’s third EP, ‘Land of Plenty’, is the single ‘River Flow’. ‘River Flow’, which was produced by Dean Baskerville (Sheryl Crow, Pink Martini, Everclear), is a little bit different in terms of sound from their earlier works. The excellent vocal harmonies and jangly acoustic guitars are still present, but this time, electric guitars take center stage, giving the music a harder edge. The freedom that comes from letting go of struggle and previous expectations and choosing to be at home exactly where you are is explored in ‘River Flow’.
When Spring finally arrived, they were hesitantly optimistic but still sorting through the severe COVID aftereffects of fear, isolation, disruption, insecurity, suffering, and grief. A map they discovered served as a physical reminder that the forces of nature are constantly changing and that what appears to be the world as you know it today is merely a momentary outward expression of a much larger reality. The river you are currently familiar with is just one brief manifestation of THE RIVER. Additionally, it was reassuring because understanding a river’s nature allows us to follow where life leads. We can let go of our need for security and predictability and instead submit to the energy of the flow.
