BUEL releases mesmerizing new song ‘Dancing with Devils of Mine’
The song is about approaching gender and sexuality with a more individualistic perspective.
Buel believes that society takes gender and sexual orientation issues too seriously, and most people agree with her because everyone feels under pressure to try to explain what these terms mean to them and what kinds of people they are interested in. To her, this acceptance resembles a slight invasion of privacy, and she believes that the more we allow others to know about our gender and sexual orientation, the more room we give to discrimination and repression. As Buel mentioned in the song, these are only feelings and concepts and shouldn’t be viewed as solid rock or “gold” to win over people’s sympathy. Things like “boys having to act like boys” or “a man not being a man or woman” come to mind. She thinks there would be more room for privacy and respect if we could all acknowledge that these are subjective feelings that change over time.
