Calling of the City by Alexia Vegas: Review
What do you get when electro-pop and an eloquent singer get together? The result is Alexia Vegas’ moving song “Calling of the City.” This memorable piece grabbed my attention, especially its themes of adventure in sync with the upbeat city pop tone. Ultimately, it’s a charming tune conveyed through soft vocals and spellbinding electronica.
Neon lights and rain-drenched roads are a daily sight in the 9-5 grind. At times the hustle and bustle may infiltrate the serenity of your senses. However, in times like this, an uplifting hymn is required to keep us in check. Fortunately, the graceful ode in Alexia’s “Calling of the City” provides some much-needed closure evident from the soulful rhythm sequence. When she sings along with the thumping electro-bass, a lovely cadence is formed. It’s a perfect soundtrack to vibe out at nightfall while driving along the near-infinite streets. Furthermore, the instrumentation of “Calling of the City” had a nice ring to it. During the chorus bits, Alexia’s voice ascends, and a playful synth mimics her tone. It’s soothing to hear and surrounds one with a calming essence that doesn’t flee instantly.
From a songwriting stance, “Calling of the City” by Alexia Vegas is easy-listening at its core. It’s a form of poetry the masses can relate to, and with the addition of electronica the spirit of this song is amplified. Speaking of amplified, gripping the song’s momentum are fast-paced beats that align perfectly with the track’s adventurous nature.
