Jitensha’s Catching Waves drifts into the space between indie pop, dream surf and introspective songwriting, turning emotional healing into something fluid and constantly moving. Across the EP, the duo explores authenticity, desire, belonging and community, using the metaphor of waves to capture the ups and downs of being human. It is music for seekers, healers and anyone trying to remember how to breathe when life gets rough.
“Telling Lies” establishes the mood with deep bass, chiming guitars and a charismatic, flowing arrangement. The vocals arrive slowly and almost robotically, matching the song’s examination of living behind a carefully constructed persona. Beneath the surface, though, is a desire to shed those expectations and rediscover the authentic self.
“Searching For You” turns toward the parts of ourselves that can become buried early in life. Its message is about finding the courage to speak up, reclaim a forgotten voice and break out of the patterns that once helped us survive. Then “Wanting More” tackles another familiar trap of getting what we thought we wanted, only to discover that satisfaction has already slipped away. Comparison, indecision and restless desire become the thieves of contentment.
By the time “Loving Circle” arrives, the EP’s introspection opens outward. Shimmery music and thumping beats support warm, tender vocals, with both singers taking individual verses before complementing each other. The song imagines community as a place where honesty can heal pain and people can feel genuinely seen.
That idea ultimately captures Catching Waves itself. Jitensha suggests that healing happens when you find the right people, stop hiding and let yourself be held by the circle around you.
