Cat Mama by Josephine: Review
Based in the picturesque beaches of Venice, California the indie surf pop artist Josephine gives the listeners a peek at her upcoming album due in April with the latest single โCat Mamaโ. She is making waves in the Venice music scene as she sold out her debut show just before the release of this song.
A dash of nostalgia hits you in the head with the first muffled beat of the drum as you press play. The gritty texture of the drums and the twangy guitars have vintage written all over them. As Josephine takes the mic she adds a whole layer of dreaminess as she sings about dreaming to live in the French countryside with her beloved where they would be playing out in the sun and build a windmill. Just this imagery alone is enough to take you to a place. On top of that, the sincerity of the vocals and the emotions sweep you right off your feet and puts you in this dreamy state. The overall production of the song has this vintage quality that evokes nostalgia and a warm cozy vibe that goes with the theme of the song so well.
An accompanying music video has also been released that gives vision to the words. Although itโs not a word-for-word visualization, the movie portrays a longing for love and is equally dreamy nevertheless.
