Chequered by Hollows: Review
Manchester-based rock band hollows has gifted the listeners with a delicious treat through their new single โChequeredโ. If the recent success of the band through their previous single โGhostsโ was any indication, the amount of interaction and playtime they have received through โChequeredโ is no surprise.
Hollows is a rock band fronted by talented vocalist Sean Davies. They are reputed for rocking the stage with a home show being sold out recently, their recent compositions especially โChequeredโ are like rock ammo.
โChequeredโ is a song about heartbreak and anguish but it is a melodic masterpiece bound to make melomaniacs overdose. The sonic plane it operates in is not on any extreme of the continuum but rather in the middle. It will seamlessly fit the preference of both soft and heavy listeners. The constant playing with hi-hats, a tight bassline, juicy chord progressions, and subtle guitar works ensures that it has all the characteristics of a true rock song. ย Although a heartbreak song, it has contrasting musical arrangements to make the anguish more bearable. If you are going through a heartbreak and most of the songs make it worse, on your playlist this song should be first. Frontman Sean Daviesโ killer voice and natural rasp is the perfect recipe for a rock ballad and he has done an incredible job and shown tremendous poise in singing this single. With BBC Radio 6 and Radio X already hyping the band, the latest single is about to bring the much-deserved success.
