David Goundry’s “Coming Right At You” is the first taste from his upcoming album Glazbury Rd. Produced by the experienced and successful Nik Sykes, the track creates an inviting and laid-back atmosphere as it opens with the gentle strumming of an acoustic guitar, establishing a soothing tune layered over jittery, soft, organic percussion.
Goundry’s voice enters smoothly, his warm, thick tone adding an air of comfort and relaxation to the song. As he sings the refrain “Coming right at you,” the song becomes more uplifting, and the guitar strums envelop us in a lighthearted rhythm. The change in tone is subtle yet effective, giving the track a sense of progression and joy.
The chorus is further elevated by soulful backing vocals, harmonizing beautifully with Goundry’s lead. This layering of vocals adds a rich, choral dimension to the song, making it feel like a joyous, communal anthem. The gentle drop of beats in the background adds momentum without overpowering the serene vibe, keeping the track’s laid-back essence intact.
As the song reaches its bridge, the backing vocals blend even more seamlessly with Goundry’s lead as they sing about offering love and support in times of need. The climax of the song is particularly engaging, as Joanna Griggs vocal layers and soars vocalizing majestically with more emotions and sensuality. Meanwhile, Goundry and the backing vocals repeat the harmonious refrain, building a sense of joy and fulfillment that leaves the listener feeling uplifted.
The full album, Glazbury Rd, will feature eight tracks in different shades of rock and pop. It’s coming out this November 1. Stay tuned.
