Philadelphia-based artist Pork Bun’s latest release, “Court Jester,” is a transformative, electronic experience—a must-listen for anyone seeking peace of mind and soul.
The song opens with an atmospheric kaleidoscopic gradient of sound, evolving from shrill sparkles of chiming noise to oceanic waves of sound. This manifests a serene and inviting atmosphere in your brain. Over the calm tranquility of the opening, draws forth an immersive haze, drawing you into a dreamlike state. This immersion is soon cut short with relaxing melodies and a gentle beat. The beats form a rhythm for you to follow like stepping stones to reaching your desired destination in a strange reverie.
The music changes its tone like a brush changing its hues while keeping to the same palette. The changes are nuanced, so within their subtlety, you will always find a larger, more expansive scene opening up.
It isn’t melancholic though. There is much serotonin to be picked up from the ambient noise as the music uplifts with the beats bringing momentum and the melodies cheery and soothing. There’s that combination of hip-hop and downtempo, chill electronic music involved in its production. The music feels both familiar and otherworldly as if it’s tapping into something deep within the listener’s subconscious.
Pork Bun is coming to you with an album, exploring the full range of downtempo music, this year. So stay tuned.
