Cryptic [K]night by Disco Dreams: Review
The genre-bending producer from Northeast Ohio, Disco Dreams has us dancing again to his new single, Cryptic [K]night.
Following up his last album, Mystic Daze, he continues his style of using ethereal vocal melodies with electronic music to create multi-dimensional psychedelic dance music. The wide range of instrumentation and sounds used on this track and how they play along complementing each other is just amazing. Starting with a Sitar-like sound followed by arpeggiated synth melodies building up on steady percussions, the different sounds keep stacking up on each other. The vocals don’t really take much of a lead role in this song, rather the ethereal vocal melodies stay in the background of a kaleidoscope of sounds giving the song a dreamlike psychedelic undertone. There is absolutely a boatload of synths on this track and each one of them is lush and vibrant having their own sound and emotion contributing to the wide spectrum of sounds of this song. This is one of those songs that you can both dance to or meditate to if you feel like it.
This is very likely to be a teaser for his second album. We can’t wait to hear the rest of the album. Meanwhile, if this is the song that is introducing Disco Dream to you, we encourage you to check out his first album Mystic Daze as well.
