This Oct 20, Liverpool-based blues rock band The Heavy North has returned with their second studio album, “Delta Shakedown,” delivering a powerful and infectious performance in 10 tracks.
The album kicks off with the self-titled track “Delta Shakedown.” From the get-go, you’re greeted with melodic guitars that jam and hypnotize with a defiant rhythm beating down the groove. The vocals are thick, deep, and heavy, dripping with sensuality and a raw, passionate desire for a woman. The music complements the theme perfectly, radiating an irresistible sensuality and allure that draws you in and doesn’t let go.
The Heavy North consistently delivers their signature blues rock sound with gusto and grit. The finale, “Forever Without You,” stands out with its soothing guitar melodies riffing softly alongside subtle pattering sounds in the background. The vocals, rich and thick with emotion, sing soulfully and mournfully. Albeit the evident sorrow, the song does not encumber us with depressing amount of sadness. It remains groovy and swells in the relaxing atmosphere.
Behind the mastery of “Delta Shakedown” lies Jose Ibanez’s recording, mixing, and producing efforts at 3rd Planet Recording Studio in Liverpool. The mastering, handled by Martin Kuchta at Roughgrain Mastering, ensures that the album’s sound quality is top-notch.
With the release of “Delta Shakedown,” The Heavy North promises us their biggest headline show at the Camp and Furnace in Liverpool on Dec 1. The band will come live with a string quartet, a brass section, and backing singers. So mark your calendars, because you are about to get a whole different experience.
