Dirty Dog by Jane N’ The Jungle: Review
Jane N’ The Jungle delivers a fierce story in their new single, Dirty Dog. The song is as heavy as the issue it addresses.
Written by the vocalist of the band Jordan White, the song tells the story of her being sexually assaulted. She wrote the lyrics on a napkin while chatting with Ayron Jones at a bar. It’s a really heavy experience to address and put out in the public but Jordan does it ever so fiercely in a true rock n roll fashion.
Quotable Lyrics:
“Feel like a dirty dog
About to get lucky and come undone
Run baby run
Feel like a dirty dog
About to get lucky and come undone
I am a dirty dog”
As we’ve already mentioned, the song is heavy and intense. Chuck Alkazian, who has previously worked with Soundgarden did an excellent job with the production and sound engineering. The guitars have a mean overdrive and crunchy tone that bites through the mix. The drums and bass hold the rhythm section tightly even at the peak of the song when the guitars and the soaring vocals absolutely tear it up. Speaking of the vocals, Jordan’s personal connection with the song can be heard throughout the energetic performance of the song. You can really hear the rage, angst, pain, and disgust in her voice, and the control she has over her vocal expressions really brings these out. Excellent musicianship from the whole band.
