Thomas Lemmer’s Dreamscapes II feels like an invitation to slow down in a world that rarely stops moving. Released through Sine Music, the 12-track album returns to the atmospheric territory of its predecessor while reaching deeper into neo-classical textures, ambient electronics, memory, and stillness.
That sense of immersion arrives immediately with “The Light That Carried Us Through.” The music moves gently through a spacious, relaxing atmosphere before a high, ethereal female voice appears, breathing and soaring delicately through the arrangement. She doesn’t dominate the soundscape; instead, she seems to float inside it, like a distant human presence appearing through morning mist. The effect is soothing but quietly stirring, as though the song is carrying some half-remembered feeling toward the light.
By “Notes Left in the Quiet – In the Stillness of 2AM,” Lemmer strips things back even further. A gentle piano moves thoughtfully through immersive ambience, its subtly repetitive rhythmic ascent giving the track a hypnotic quality. It captures that strange late-night state when everything outside has gone silent and the smallest thoughts suddenly seem enormous. There is no rush to resolve anything. The music simply sits with the feeling.
Then “Their Voices Faded into Light” emerges from a foggy opening, initially obscured and almost weightless. A female vocal soon rises through the haze with considerably more emotional force, giving the track a beautiful sense of emergence. What begins in uncertainty gradually feels like release, as though memories that once felt painfully close are finally becoming distant enough to hold.
Lemmer’s craftsmanship is central to the album’s appeal. He composed, produced, and mastered the project himself, treating Dreamscapes II as a unified artistic statement rather than a playlist of disconnected pieces. Even its visual world follows that philosophy: original Polaroid photographs of skies and clouds, manipulated through double exposures and filters, mirror the album’s hazy, analog dreamscape.
In an age of skips, clips, and constant noise, Dreamscapes II makes a surprisingly radical proposition: sit still, listen closely, and let the atmosphere come to you.
