Metal band We Are To Blame releases their latest 6-track EP, Duality II. Following their highly acclaimed debut EP ‘Duality I,’ released in November 2022, this latest offering showcases the band’s growth and versatility.
The EP kicks off with “I Want This To End,” a track that wastes no time in unleashing a storm of distorted guitars and thumping drums. The intense instrumentals create a sonic battleground. And amidst this storm, Alice Hartvig’s sonorous and sweet voice emerges and grounds the song with passion and conviction. Her vocals bring an ease of pop music to the depth of metal, balancing the heaviness with an angelic touch.
The standout moment on the EP comes with the last track, “Be Here – Acoustic Version,” which offers a stripped-down and vulnerable rendition of the original orchestral composition, the 2nd track. The acoustic version replaces the swelling strings with enchanting piano melodies, allowing Alice’s voice to take center stage. Her deep, gritty, and intense vocals in the original are more pronounced in this version, conveying a transparent performance. Her voice is heard more up front, with the vulnerable, breathy ends of her voice clearly audible. The acoustic arrangement enhances the vulnerability of the song, offering a contrasting yet equally compelling perspective.
We Are To Blame, consisting of Alice Hartvig on vocals, Johan Karlsson on guitars and vocals, and Urban Granbacke on guitars, seamlessly blend elements of power metal, melodic death metal, and progressive metal. If that’s your cup of tea, stay tuned to their music.
