“Dying Light” by ChuggaBoom is an absolute beast of a track—dark, menacing, and unapologetically brutal. Known for their tongue-in-cheek humor and chaotic energy, the Birmingham-based metalcore band takes a sharp left turn with this one, diving headfirst into heavier, more intense territory. It’s raw. It’s relentless. Mastered by the legendary Joel Wanasek (who’s worked with heavy-hitters like Blessthefall and Machine Head), it’s a sonic gut punch that lingers long after the final note.
The track opens with an eerie shimmer of sound before an absolute monster of a growl rips through the silence, shaking the ground beneath it. It’s hoarse, guttural, and hauntingly powerful, setting the tone for the controlled chaos that follows. Then the drums hit—pounding, rolling, and building like an unstoppable force—before distorted, razor-sharp guitars explode into the mix. The aggression is palpable, the frustration almost tangible, but somehow, within all this rage, there’s an undeniable catchiness.
The bridge is where things get truly wild. The vocals swing between raw, guttural bellows and higher, sharper, near-cracking wails, creating a tension that keeps you hooked. The shifts in vocal intensity feel like a full-on breakdown of sanity, dragging you deeper into the track’s stormy atmosphere.
With ChuggaBoom set to release a new song every month in 2025, this is just the beginning of their most ambitious era yet. Oh, and did we mention their upcoming European headline tour? With stops across Austria, Germany, Czech Republic, and France, it’s clear they’re coming in hot this year. Fans of Ice Nine Kills, Electric Callboy, and Polaris—this one’s for you. Stay tuned.
