Echoes (The Echo Sessions) by Samantha Gibb: EP Review
Samantha Gibb’s sensational vocals are at it once again in her EP “Echoes (The Echo Sessions).” The artist’s take on the alt-indie genre is stellar, primarily due to the flow of harmonies in this fresh collection. Subtle acoustic chords intertwine with deep bass segments, and a lovely atmosphere is ensured with Samantha’s cozy voice at the helm.
The EP initiates with a heavenly tune in Good Lovin’. Beautiful vocal harmonies gather together to create a pleasant cadence, and eventually, a touching verse takes form. Samantha’s melodic stance may pertain to alt-indie, however, hints of ambiance also exist in her music. I believe this is where the “cozy” essence of her EP comes into the limelight. It’s an ideal melody to play on repeat while sipping hot cocoa, covered in a blanket, on a windy Spring evening. This opening number has a bit of a pop groove to it with the addition of the bass. Adding an interesting sway to the mix for a funky life force.
Exiting the EP with “Christmas in a Small Town” reminded me of cherished memories I shared with all my favorite people back in the holidays. It’s such a heartwarming track with incredibly moving songwriting. Samantha did a fantastic job in ensuring the atmosphere of acoustic folk remains intact, and also this is her voice at the utmost peak. One can easily get lost in Samantha’s magical performance, she’s a spellbinding musician after all!
