Eide Olsen released entrancing new song ‘Don’t Even Try’
The latest single from Eide Olsen, ‘Don’t Even Try’, is a delicate pop confection from the top shelf. The track, which serves as a preview for the upcoming album ‘My Dear’, was mastered by Ryan Smith (Adele, Beyonce, Coldplay). In comparison to previous releases, Eide Olsen now has a more contemporary and “poppish” expression thanks to the collaboration with Eirik Grnner (Kurt Nilsen, Endre Nordvik). ‘Don’t Even Try’ deftly alludes to influences from the mid-’90s like The Cardigans, wherein minute soulful melodic details and a steady arrangement balance a text that borders on being heartbreaking.
Although ‘Don’t Even Try’ may have bitter undertones, it primarily tells the tale of an improbable union where love and hopelessness collide. According to Eide Olsen, “having to justify or explain infidelity quickly turns into a minefield of lies.” At the same time, you act in this manner to lessen the sting of betrayal.
