Doruk Doyran’s latest album, Enjoy The Fall is a classic/rock experimental masterpiece that takes you on a contemplative journey from the comfort of his bedroom in Berlin.
Enjoy The Fall makes me feel like I am staring at the night sky from a window, overlooking the buildings ahead. It’s kind of sad and lonely somehow. These hours can craft poetry in our heads. It allows us to see light even in the dark. Each track contributes to this narrative, offering a unique sonic experience.
In the opening track, “Katabasis,” Doyran combines cinematic, classic, and swelling arrangements with riffing and distorted guitars, creating a contemplative and dark atmosphere. The journey to the underworld is vividly portrayed, drawing you into a sonic exploration of depths and shadows.
“Far Away,” is the heart of Enjoy The Fall right in the middle, and also my favorite. It takes us into the experimental and psychedelic dimension with atmospheric guitar playing trailing through foggy textures. The industrial synth swirls overhead, carrying you to otherworldly dimensions.
Finalizing Enjoy The Fall with “Our Love,” we have a heavy undercurrent and a looping synth texture that builds anticipation. Soft and tuneful electric guitar chiming follows, gradually building to climactic moments with low gnarling guitar distortion and drumming. The song showcases Doyran’s ability to create dynamic and emotionally charged compositions.
If you want to know where Doyran got his magic from, it’s the combination of Santana, Pink Floyd, Depeche Mode, Deftones, Radiohead, and Sade who have left their mark on his music. Enjoy The Fall is still original and unlike anything they do. So listen to it.
