Ottawaโs pop-punk outfit MAJORS are back swinging harder than ever with their latest single, โEtiquette,โ a fiery, tongue-in-cheek anthem straight off their Songs in the Key of Golf EP. This loud, fast, unapologetically bratty song is about the nightmare of getting paired up with a golf-course menace. The bandโs first-ever music video just dropped on YouTube, brought to life by none other than Juno-winning cinematographer Peter Schnobb, whoโs worked with Bahamas and Sarah Harmer.
โEtiquetteโ wastes no time teeing off. Within seconds, weโre hit with blistering guitar distortion, relentless drums, and frontman Justin Camarenaโs gravelly howl launching into a hilariously dark monologue of golfer rage. Itโs everything youโd want from 2000s-era punk rock, just a little more nine-iron. Camarena explains that the track was inspired by a real-life round gone wrong, where an insufferable golf partner pushed him to the brink. The lyrics exaggerate that moment to absurd, murderous heights, and, naturally, the video follows suit.
Filmed at Irish Hills Golf and Country Club, the video serves up an antihero who breaks every rule in the book: showing up late, trashing etiquette, and generally acting like Happy Gilmoreโs evil twin. As the track cranks up, so does the chaos, culminating in a punk-perfect, unhinged and deeply satisfying revenge fantasy.
With mixing and mastering by Dean Hadjichristou (Parkway Drive, Four Year Strong), the sound is crisp and aggressive. MAJORS, formed in 2023 by ex-members of The Fully Down, joined by musicians from We Were Sharks, the band is just getting started.
With more singles in the pipeline and a full album planned for 2026, it looks like MAJORS are getting us warmed up for the real thing. Stay tuned till then.
