Everybody Has a Story by Mats Dernánd feat. Emma Nilsdotter: Review
Mats Dernánd is a multi-instrumentalist who composes, records, sings, and plays the piano and harmonica. From 2008 till 2020, Emma Nilsdotter performed in the internationally acclaimed vocal group The Real Group. Mats and Emma first connected during a songwriting camp. Both artists showcase a passionate performance in the track “Everybody Has a Story”. Filled with pain and emotions, both singers carry a powerful voice that incorporates a pop-style technique.
The song structure is as moving as the touching lyrics. As the track progresses I noticed that the choruses are very catchy, and have this feeling of elevation in one’s heart. More and more, I digested bits and pieces of the song and managed to experience the sensation of blues from the guitar and piano arrangements. Well, you must incorporate the blues to talk about something painful, and the artists beautifully depicted that feeling.
Within the background, the presence of the harmonica has a sophisticated and windy presence. There’s a warmth emanating from its addition and powers up the song’s essence quite well. The tune’s message is very wholesome, and it seems the musicians aim to inspire people in similar painful scenarios with their music. “Everybody Has a Story” by Mats Dernánd feat. Emma Nilsdotter already has a remarkable healing aura to it with the blues-inspired melodies and the poptastic singing presence. But the deep message within is equally formidable.
