AroMani is a Romanian-born EDM producer now based in DeWitt, Michigan. His most recent single, Finale, is a hard-hitting trap song with lots of orchestral elements that, in our opinion, make the song dramatic and powerful. There is also a lot of bass in the song. Check out the song ‘Finale’ and the exclusive interview below:
1. Can you tell us a bit about where you come from and how you got started?
AroMani: I am currently based in East Lansing, Michigan. I am Romanian, which has influenced my love for all types of music from all over the world. I got started at 13 learning how to use FL Studio, soon after getting into electro house music.
2. Did you have any formal training or are you self-taught?
AroMani: I am self-taught, mostly through spending countless hours listening to music I like, and trying to replicate my favorite elements. I learned a lot from articles and videos online, and have been improving my productions for over 10 years. My younger sister played piano and sang a lot growing up, so I was surrounded by melodies that would always strike ideas, and set up my musical foundation.
3. Who were your first and strongest musical influences and why the name AroMani?
AroMani: My early favorites were Dada Life, Showtek, Hardwell, David Guetta. A lot of electro house, but I’ve since delved more into trap/bass music. My name is just ‘Romania’ with the ‘a’ at the beginning; I liked how it sounds and has rooted meaning for me.
5. How would you describe your own development as an artist and music maker, and the transition towards EDM?
AroMani:
My early tracks are pretty different from what I’m putting out now, which has a lot to do with how the music industry has changed from when I started. Rap music, and especially modern rap definitely played a part in shifting my musical interest. I find the rhythms in rap/trap production addictive, and think the style allows for a ton of creativity.
6. Could you describe your creative processes? How do usually start, and go about shaping ideas into a completed song? Do you usually start with a tune, a beat, or a narrative in your head?
AroMani:
I almost alway start with the drop/chorus, which I think may be contrary to most. But for me building the foundation of the chorus makes building everything else around it easier. I’ll either start with a melody or a percussive rhythm. I record a ton of melodies on my phone whenever I think of them, so I’ve been able to maintain a good supply of ideas so far.
7. What would you consider a successful, proud or significant point in your life or music career so far?
AroMani:
I am very grateful for having a remix on my youtube channel almost hitting 50k views so far, and over 200k streams on soundcloud. My music has also been featured in some viral videos across social media. I just hope to grow by consistently releasing unique electronic music.
