Based in Scotland, BRITAINโS GOT TALENT 2022- performer โ FERDINAND RENNIE began his career in the 80โs when he was fifth in the Austrian pre-selection for the Eurovision song contestโฆโฆ. Ferdinandโs rich, mellow voice touches music lovers hearts all over the world! Check out the exclusive interview below:

1. Your roots can often shape your journey. Can you share a story or moment from your early life that had a significant impact on your path into music?
Ferdinand Rennie: I grew up in the 60โs in a very musical family, so the radio was on 24/7. Music was very important and I loved to just listen to songs and sing along to the songs I heard on the radio โ 1967 I saw for the first time the Eurovision Song Contest and loved the winner Sandy Shaw. Back then my dream started -that one day I would love to ย participate at the ESC. โ it has not happened yet โ however in the early 80โs I became 5th in the Austrian preselection for the ESC โ which was fab back thenโฆ
2. Did your musical journey begin with formal training, or was it more of a personal exploration? How has that shaped your unique approach to your craft?
Ferdinand Rennie: Most of it was just personal exploration โ I sang all the time and this was the best way to learn
3. Who were some of the most influential figures in your early musical life, and how did they inspire your sound? Also, whatโs the story behind choosing the name โFerdinand Rennieโ?
Ferdinand Rennie: I loved to listen to all Olivia Newton-John songs in the 70โs โ and learned a lot from her in the way of breathing, telling stories with a songย In 2012 I had the pleasure to get to know her in person, as my partner Brian, is an international fashion designer, and he made many of her dresses for her wonderful Las Vegas shows, so I had the great pleasure that she gave me some advice โ moments I will never forget.
4. What do you believe sets your music apart? How would you describe your sound to someone discovering you for the first time, and what emotions or experiences do you hope to evoke in your listeners?
Ferdinand Rennie: I want to make people happy when they are listening to me singing. Many tell me I have this unique, calming voice, which makes people comfortable to listen to.

5. For most artists, originality is first preceded by a phase of learning and, often, emulating others. What was this like for you? How would you describe your own development as an artist and music maker, and the transition towards your own style, which is known as POP -CROSSOVER ?
Ferdinand Rennie: I recorded back then mostly cover songs, but over the last few years I have been concentrating on recording my own songs, or original songs which are offered to me, by songwriters all over to world. This is just wonderful โ to develop a new song and make it my own.
6. Music often transcends entertainment. Whatโs your view on the role and function of music as political, cultural, spiritual, and/or social vehicles โ and do you try and affront any of these themes in your work, or are you purely interested in music as an expression of technical artistry, personal narrative, and entertainment?
Ferdinand Rennie: I would say I prefer to stay neutral with my music and am very happy with it
7. Do you feel the rewards of your musical career match the energy and passion you invest in it, or are there different kinds of fulfillment youโre still seeking?
Ferdinand Rennie: I feel very rewarded with the current situation I am in , but would love more people to discover me and my music
8. Can you walk us through your creative process? From the first spark of an idea to the finished track, whatโs the most essential part of your process, and how do collaboration or external influences shape your work?
Ferdinand Rennie: some of my recordings I have had for many years on my desk โ and it is like good whisky โ songs have to ripen.
Mostly it is always the right time when I decide to work with it โ there were some songs I worked over 10 years on , and suddenly there came along ย the right idea where to go with it. And it worked out very well. It is always fun to find new people to work with, as there is so much talent out there .
9. Whatโs been the most challenging hurdle in either your personal life or music career, and how has it shaped you as an artist?
Ferdinand Rennie: it never was easy to become what I am today, but it is this process of learning and being willing to learn from mistakes that makes me look back and be thankful that I can still live my dream.
10. On the flip side, what moment or achievement in your career so far has made you feel the proudest, and why? And letโs talk about your latest release and future plans.
Ferdinand Rennie: One of the highlights of my career was to sing in front of the Prince and Princess of Monaco and when they told me that they really enjoyed it that was a thrill.
TOGETHER AT CHRISTMAS โ is one of this songs I have had on my desk for many years, in the end we finally produced it in just a few weeks and the fans love it !
Just now working on my new album โ hopefully ready to be released early 2026
11. With social media having a heavy impact on our lives and the music business in general, how do you handle criticism, haters, and/or naysayers in general? Is it something you pay attention to, or simply ignore?
Ferdinand Rennie: to be honest โ I try to ignore most of it โ as there is sometimes really negative stuff out thereโฆ.
12. Creative work in a studio or home environment, or interaction with a live audience? Which of these two options excites you most, and why?
Ferdinand Rennie: both of it means very much to me. I love to sing in front of audience, but also love to put my stamp on songs in the studio.
13. Do you think is it important for fans of your music to understand the real story and message driving each of your songs, or do you think everyone should be free to interpret your songs in their own personal way?
Ferdinand Rennie: As we live in a free world โeveryone should be free to enjoy my music and songs in their own personal way!
