Matthew Leuwโs psychedelic rock project, Mild Horses, is back with a new single, โEye of the Behemoth,โ and itโs a mind-bending trip you wonโt want to miss. This first single of their upcoming third album is a swirling vortex of sound that will leave you both exhilarated and unsettled.
The song creates an eerie anticipation ensuing within your brainwaves as it opens with a single, thin note that hangs in the air. Soon follows the sparks of percussion which rustles along. Then, the beat explodes with pounding drums bounding over the floor. Over that, a warm, sly brass-like air imbues, writhes and bends like a living reptilia. This is essentially a tense, suspenseful atmosphere evoking the feeling of being watched by some unseen behemoth.
The beauty of โEye of the Behemothโ is in its constant state of flux. The drums pound relentlessly, but then they disappear, leaving only the haunting trail of the brass-like blows lowly underneath an immersive floating, ethereal soundscape. The journey proves to be dynamic as it defies your expectations with the drums coming back bustling only for the instrumentals to fade out, replaced by an ethereal opening that culminates the hypnotic acid trip. Regardless, you are left winded and disoriented in the ethereal echo.
