The Macarons Project, best known for their famous ‘Fly Me To The Moon’ cover, nominated last year at the 2023 BRIT Awards, released their latest single “Fade.” Released on March 14th, the mesmerizing single gets to the heart of a relationship that’s beginning to “fade.” Led by Ree’s soft and husky vocals and Dito’s soothing guitar-work, the Canadian, Indonesian-born brother-sister duo delivers a poignant indie pop/folk ballad that captivates from start to finish.
The song opens with gentle guitar strumming, immediately drawing us in with its tune. Ree’s vocals enter delicately, singing introspective lyrics that explore the spaces created in relationships and the yearning to deepen the connection. As the song progresses, ambient music and glinting piano keys make the dreamy atmosphere more soothing and expansive, providing a backdrop for Ree’s voice to soar.
Ree’s voice gets ethereal as it delicately soars in the chorus, “Cause it’s you/It’s you/You’re my perfect one,” with her simple plea not to let go and come back. She imbues the lyrics with emotion and vulnerability that resonates deeply.
Since 2020, the duo began creating original compositions. This track is the debut single from their upcoming album reverie. Coming to you this summer 2024, this album is to get you lost in your dreams and your thoughts with enchanting dreamscapes.
If you love Lord Huron’s music and love indie pop and folk music, “Fade” is a must-listen.
