Fading Out by HENKA: Review
‘Fading Out’ is the second installment to easily foreseeable successful musical journey HENKA- the artistic alias for talented singer and songwriter Cat Pereira. HENKA has received widespread attention of casual listeners and critical acclaim with her debut track ‘Pedestal’ and now seems to be growing an ever extending fan following through her new release ‘Fading Out’.
HENKA is said to be inspired by artists like Halsey and Bjork and some influence can be found in her compositions but one thing is clear- she is not afraid to experiment and has already achieved her unique sound.
‘Fading Out’ is a song about recovering after a heartbreak and the singing and musicality are so on point to deliver the message that it will feel genuine and listeners are bound to take the song to heart. It is a blend of electro-pop and Gothic rock that transcends the boundaries of a particular genre and creates a new sound. It starts with a thunderous electro-bass to hook you instantly. The Gothic fueled verse singing evokes a feeling of heartbreak and darkness that gets a catharsis in the chorus with electro-pop style singing. Her belting in the chorus reminds of her terrific singing ability and the harmonies underneath create an ethereal feeling that makes the song so enjoyable and worthwhile. If this is just the start of her journey, listeners must be waiting with greed for what she surprises them with next. Overall, it is hard to deny the impact she has had to music with what she has offered so far.
