Frida and Leon by Dirty Dev: Review

“Frida and Leon” is an emotional piece by Dirty Dev. PHILY collaborated on this piece with production work, and the instrumentals play a key role in the sentiment behind the track. Aside from that, Dev’s soft poetry session on the track is a very wholesome and intimate take on the hip-hop genre. Thus, the usual energetic outfit of the genre is replaced with something more intense and warm.
Dev’s voice is smooth like butter. Every time he sings or raps, a sense of calm arrives, and it’s almost like medicine for your soul. His technique and word choice are sensational, and each verse has a layer of harmony that bonds with the rhythm section. Speaking of which, a combination of faded guitars, deep basslines, and atmospheric synths cover the instrumentals. So, it’s a lovely combination to experience. In addition, a jazzy beat is active and blends excellently with each rhythm. The cadence is delightful, and Dev truly shaped the spirit of the track with his voice. The chemistry is incredible, and the poetry feels close to your chest. While tugging on your heartstrings, the song gives us a narrative that’ll intrigue you all the same.
Ladies and gents, musical emotion is tough to create and even tougher to perfect. A huge shout out to artists like Dirty Dev, who are constantly composing to the best of their ability. That being said, please don’t miss out on his evocative track, “Frida and Leon.”
