Glass Mansions released smashing new song ‘Standing O’

Glass Mansions, an altpop duo from Austin, Texas, is fronted by the captivating, seductive voice of Jayna Doyle. Their music is influenced by both contemporary and 90s pop, as well as by heavy synths and tight, danceable rhythms. Their music is dynamic and flexible, with rich electronic soundscapes and insightful, personal lyrics.
Leslie Gore’s ‘You Don’t Own Me’ is continued in our contemporary era by ‘Standing O’. Jaynawrote this song when she was at her most worn-out and frustrated as a woman, having both experienced and seen the abuse of power by men in prominent positions, both inside and outside the music industry. Women’s voice is the most potent weapon they have to fight back after repeatedly experiencing being gaslighted, having her worth discounted, groomed, and talked down to in public while witnessing the new rise of oppression in our nation being force-fed to them by the media by these performative men in positions of power. Women reclaim their power by standing up forthemselves and others, exercising the right to vote, participating in protests, and fighting the patriarchy. This song is a request for a mock standing ovation to praise oppressors for believing they have more power than they actually do at the end of the day. Women continue to have a voice.
