Irish four-piece band Pork Pie has released their latest album, GOLDEN LEAF SHEETS. Released this Sep 6, the record is a sonic explosion of psychedelia, punk, funk, garage rock, and more that will leave you breathless in the high.
GOLDEN LEAF SHEETS kicks off with “City Lights,” a high-octane track that immediately grabs your attention with its grinding fuzzy riffs that churn their way against hard-hitting drums. Michael Stafford sings with his high and husky voice, energetically soaring past the frenetic energy, resembling the urban environment.
The drums take center stage in “Careful As You Go,” as they roll and bustle throughout as clear as day. Stafford, as charismatic as he is, is contagiously excited here and makes you want to sing along to the catchy vibes.
“Outta Of My Mind” is a head-on explosion from the start. With grinding, churning guitar riffs spitting against relentless drumming for over 1 minute and 30 seconds, the song proves to be a raging reward in the form of an interlude.
“Golden Leaf Sheets” begins like a mystical psychedelic experience with melodic guitars brooding like a placid lake, until the drums beat harder later on and the guitars intensify in the bridge. Stafford’s voice comes hypnotic, hazy, and high amidst the immersion. The title track turns out to be an intriguing, heightening immersive experience.
The album concludes with the epic “Cabin Fever,” a track that is sure to leave you wanting more. The song is a feverish blaze with a constant haze of bustling drums and churning guitars, amidst which the singer’s voice comes echoing through with a thickening blare.
If you like what you hear of the genre-bending, vitriolic GOLDEN LEAF SHEETS, stay tuned with Pork Pie.
