Gone Wrong Rainbow Blues by Otherish: Album Review
Their second album, titled โGone Wrong Rainbow Blues,โ by Otherish, which was released on October 7, 2022, was the product of a collaborative effort of four musician friends. They are George, Paul, Mark, and Francis, and they follow the genre of electric rock. The song portrays an emotional scenario that listeners may find to be incredibly relatable, and it features a fascinating musical composition that is filled with jazzy tunes.
The first song, โBoil me into life,โ starts with a few notes of an electric piano tune along with the vibe of Indian and Arabic scaled humming with drums, bass, and acoustic guitar picking. The lyrics enter just after the humming section, and the lyrics are just like spoken words, like reciting a poem. And the wordplay which echoes together with the continuous humming sound throughout the whole song makes it more relaxing.
The albumโs fourth song, โTheir Mistake,โ sounds like jazz classics; the acoustic yet electric piano sound and the small guitar and saxophone solos along with the song make it unique. The song, combined with the vocalistโs soft meandering, creates an atmosphere that is both calming and fulfilling.
The fifth song, โPlanxty Mark Loudon,โ begins slowly with a few chords of electric piano, then enters the soothing and calming vocal, like he is telling a story before bedtime. It is very easy to fall asleep while listening to this song because it is so calming.
The ecstatic quality of their sounds perfectly captures the pure spirit of their music. The whole album is a blend of old-school music with new technologies and a jazzy, bluesy, and psychedelic feel.
