Hard Truth by Patient Lounge: Review
“Hard Truth” is a track that truly hits you with a gritty and brutal musical crescendo. Composed by Patient Lounge, an alternative rock band from Brisbane, their strength in numbers truly shows from each band member’s masterful performance. Brace yourselves ladies and gents, ‘cause the band’s song “Hard Truth” is a fresh take on the modern metal/alternative rock genre.
The new movement of what is edgy and trendy among guitarists is this math rock style, a really detailed melodic structure. I truly admire the dawn of this tradition and see it evidently in Patient Lounge’s playing style. Their guitar work in “Hard Truth” is marvelous, the incorporation of beautiful progressive riffs and gut-wrenching solos that shred is a treat to hear. In addition to that, the vocalist of Patient Lounge brings his A-game and offers a commendable show.
There is a synergy between each instrumental arrangement, especially for the guitars and drums. I enjoyed hearing that, because progressive transitions in metal music, can be a hit or miss at times, and “Hard Truth” hits strongly! What I enjoyed about the track is its attention to sound melodic. To sound catchy in a metal or alternative rock is at times tricky because there are so many variations in rock music, it’s tough to stand out! Thus, it is quite impressive to hear Patient Lounge’s ability to create a catchy hook that can be easily vibed with. I mean common with awesome instrumentation from each piece, a great voice that commands it, and brutal distortion guitar tones, what’s not to love?
