Having made it to the South Africa Top 40 Chart and the Aotearoa RadioScope Alt Chart, The Transits gets on the energetic and exciting side of heartbreaking relatability with their punchy, energetic anthem, “Heartbreak Queen.”
This single is an absolute head-banger thanks to the insane mix of rock, punk, indie and synth-pop. As the introductory song from their self-titled album, The Transits’ “Heartbreak Queen,” kicks off with thumping drums and a building guitar line. It spawns a wild ride as dueting vocals of Ryan Lunn and Dom Antelme add perspective and realism to the verses, with each singer bringing out different levels of frustration, with one being the voice of reason and the other voicing the hurt experienced.
The chorus comes with guitars blazing with melodic shimmer and drums pounding harder. It becomes impossible not to sing along to the anthemic lyrics and jamming to the rhythm. “In my eyes, you are just a heartbreak queen from a broken scene,” they sing, capturing the frustration and disillusionment of realizing that someone you idolized and loved isn’t who you thought they were.
The dreamy bridge offers a moment of introspection and self-discovery, as the narrator resolves to stay true to themselves and look around to see who’s with them during these hard times.
But it’s not just the music that sets The Transits apart—it’s also their visually striking music videos. Check out the one for “Heartbreak Queen.”
Whether navigating the ups and downs of love or looking for a killer track to rock out to, The Transits got your back.
