Helsinki-based Composer Kepa Lehtinen Released New Single โIt Gets Darkโ
The new single โIt Gets Darkโ by Helsinki-based film and television composer Kepa Lehtinen was released on July 27, 2022.
The song is a stark, minimalist instrumental that combines classical elements with genre-less atmospheres to transport you high into the night sky. The only instruments used are the piano, double bass, and theremin. With just a few notes and some breathing room, Kepa can express complex emotions. He has honed his own unique creative voice with these three instruments. He performs the piano and theremin parts himself, leaving his brother Ari Lehtenin to handle the upright bass.
Immediately after its release, โIt Gets Darkโ is accessible on all of the major streaming services. Check it out right here:
Lehtinen, a pianist by trade, was surprised by how well his theremin recordings were received. The theremin is a touchless, electronic instrument with Russian origins. He has since developed a distinctive sound based on piano themes, shifting theremin harmonies, and a dependable double bass.
