Fat Bottomed Boys has released a new post-release single from their album Haters Gonna Hate this Dec 22. Keeping up the hype, “I Don’t Care(Dedicated To…)” doubles down on the humor, vintage vibes, and playful spirit.
Fat Bottomed Boys is basically two Queen fans, dedicating their career to Queen’s legacy. They got it so bad that they even released Haters Gonna Hate on November 24 to commemorate Mercury’s tragic death anniversary. But they are giving you something to dedicate as well, with the album’s seventh track, “I Don’t Care(Dedicated To…),” allowing you to express your dismay towards that gossipy neighbor you just can’t stand.
“I Don’t Care(Dedicated To…)” opens with an upbeat and playful keyboard melody, setting a vintage tone that pays tribute to Queen’s signature sound. The opening lyrics, “You talk about your cats and your friends/Your family and your ex is the end/You give too much information/I did not ask any question about your hair” is enough to catch your attention. These lines will also automatically break a smile into your stoicism with the humorous sardonic tone they are addressing mundane small talk.
Backing vocals add an extra layer to the song, reacting to the singer’s lines with a jolly good vibe, enhancing the overall dynamic. The singer even alludes to the famous closing lines of Rhett Butler, “Frankly my dear, I don’t give a damn,” from Gone in the Wind. It definitely tops the vintage music with a nostalgic touch and reinforces the carefree and unbothered attitude.
“I Don’t Care(Dedicated To…)” with all its quips, features various small but intriguing textures in the sound, along with a well-placed guitar solo to entertain us.
Fat Bottomed Boys will be working on the soundtrack for “Metropolis,” the sequel to “The King of Rhye,” soon enough. Expect more of 80s new wave music in the nearing future. Stay with the boys to learn more!
