US-based alternative rock project Lido Beach, helmed by Scott Waldman, returns with their new single “I Never Pulled Your Trigger,” released on October 2, 2024. Known for their emotionally charged lyrics and catchy rock melodies, the band’s latest track dives into raw emotional territory, capturing the pain and frustration of a breakup with gripping intensity.
“I Never Pulled Your Trigger” opens with sparkling drums and grinding guitars that unleash a fury of sound, setting the stage for Waldman’s biting, cold, and emotionally charged vocals. There’s a palpable sense of suppressed anger in his voice as he delivers the lyrics, reflecting the heartache and disillusionment that come with the end of a relationship. The verses highlight this tension with the revealing lines, “We were divorced, now disengaged / Now my inner’s sick / It’s money, it is not me,” giving us a window view into the personal struggles that inspired the song.
The track is electrifying. The bridge, in particular, takes a surprising turn as Waldman’s voice soars with a sweeping agony in the punk rock reverb, giving the song a sudden emotional release. The track’s energy is infectious, and its catchy melody makes it perfect for live performances, where the emotional weight of the song can fully be relished by an audience.
Drawing comparisons to Green Day and Weezer, Waldman still emphasizes that the song is deeply personal and uniquely his. The song is the second single from Lido Beach’s upcoming EP. If “I Never Pulled Your Trigger” piques your senses, stay tuned for the big release.
