SaffeK has released their latest album, I/U/WE/US released this July 26, for you to witness their rock n roll fiery engines grazing right onto you and burning into you.
“Electrocute” kicks off I/U/WE/US with an electrifying scream and an unifying vocalizing that follows gnarling distortion, and we start to realize that we have stepped into something really anthemic. The guitars blaze and graze distortedly over clashing drums, while Oren Amitai’s deep voice growls menacingly.
“Hide & Seek,” featuring Yossi Sassi, is a catchy and hooky piece. The guitars graze with a tempting rhythm, while the singer’s commanding voice and backing vocals provide an amazingly exotic dichotomy.
“Anyway” is an interestingly, soft and flickering 40-second piano-laden interlude that continues to “Touch Me Hold Me” with its vulnerability until you hear a crowd. Then the drums start to rumble and the guitars start buzzing and the song gains its momentum again. The guitars tightly grind and get you all riled up until the chorus where the song gets breathy and gains clarity, as he sings, “Touch me hold me until the sun goes down upon my way.”
With a glitchy opening, “Glitch” turns to contagious riffs that coincide with shimmering music. The song blasts up and out while the singer conflictedly asks the reflective echoing question, “So why does it all burn?” before releasing all his agony, and frustration.
The twilight of I/U/WE/US comes with “Swan Queen” which shimmers enchantingly with piano gushing in with chiming guitars. The frontman shows his tender vulnerability as he sings slowly, giving us space to settle in until the guitars drive themselves to bring the riffs onto the scene, grinding before the song slowly dies in clarity after more than 6 minutes.
