Foreign Flesh plunges listeners into a psychedelic journey with their latest release, “Inside Out, Outside In.” The song, heavily influenced by Goth Rock, Post Punk, New Wave, and Alternative rock, explores themes of existential meltdown under the influence of psychedelics.
“Inside Out, Outside In” unfolds with thumping drums and driving guitars that create a chaotic atmosphere. The guitars tuned and drifting in dreamy tunes, set the tone for the immersive sonic experience. The composition effectively captures the essence of the psychedelic and alternative genres, providing a rich and textured background for the vocals.
The vocals, thick and rich, carry an agonizing and desperately angsty tone that complements the existential and contemplative theme of the song. The lead vocalist, Connor Obarr, delivers the lyrics with a sense of urgency and introspection, echoing the feeling of being enveloped and disoriented in an altered state of reality. The opening line, “Is this the real world?” immediately establishes the overarching theme of questioning reality.
Puzzled by psychedelic substances and losing grasp and coherence, the lyrics bring up various topics, and philosophies while questioning things. The song should relate to those who have tried this stuff out. As for the song, it sure reflects the band’s mental state after an acid trip. We find the overwhelming aftertaste of their mental states poured into the music.
Listen to Foreign Flesh get disarrayed in their latest song, “Inside Out, Outside In.” Available on Spotify since October 31, the band challenges you to be addicted to the music.
