Julian Lennon has released the first song video for his new album โJude,โ titled โEvery Little Moment.โ
Jude is Lennonโs first album since 2011โs โEverything Changes.โ The title is an homage to Paul McCartneyโs song โHey Jude,โ which was written about Julian and recorded by The Beatles.
When Julianโs mother and father, John and Cynthia Lennon, divorced in 1968, and John had begun a relationship with Yoko Ono, McCartney penned โHey Jude.โ โHey Julesโ was the title of the tune. Julian was supposed to be comforted by it. Simply because it sounded better, McCartney altered the title to โHey Jude.โ
Julian just performed his fatherโs โImagineโ for the first time last week. As a human and an artist, he stated, โI felt forced to respond in the most profound way I could.โ So tonight, for the first time ever, I played IMAGINE, a song written by my father.
After all these years, why now? โ Iโd always claimed that the only time Iโd ever consider singing โIMAGINEโ would be if the world was endingโฆ
But also because his songs encapsulate our universal desire for peace.
โJudeโ is the title of the album. โMany of these songs have been in the works for a long time,โ Julian explains, โso it almost feels like a coming-of-age record.โ
โFreedom,โ a second song, has also been released.
The two new songs were released on Julianโs 59th birthday. โJudeโ will be released later in 2022.
