Julian Lennon has released the first song video for his new album ‘Jude,’ titled ‘Every Little Moment.’
Jude is Lennon’s first album since 2011’s ‘Everything Changes.’ The title is an homage to Paul McCartney’s song ‘Hey Jude,’ which was written about Julian and recorded by The Beatles.
When Julian’s mother and father, John and Cynthia Lennon, divorced in 1968, and John had begun a relationship with Yoko Ono, McCartney penned “Hey Jude.” ‘Hey Jules’ was the title of the tune. Julian was supposed to be comforted by it. Simply because it sounded better, McCartney altered the title to ‘Hey Jude.’
Julian just performed his father’s ‘Imagine’ for the first time last week. As a human and an artist, he stated, “I felt forced to respond in the most profound way I could.” So tonight, for the first time ever, I played IMAGINE, a song written by my father.
After all these years, why now? – I’d always claimed that the only time I’d ever consider singing ‘IMAGINE’ would be if the world was ending…
But also because his songs encapsulate our universal desire for peace.
‘Jude’ is the title of the album. “Many of these songs have been in the works for a long time,” Julian explains, “so it almost feels like a coming-of-age record.”
‘Freedom,’ a second song, has also been released.
The two new songs were released on Julian’s 59th birthday. ‘Jude’ will be released later in 2022.
