Rooted in Washington, DC, Brian K. Pagels and Stephen Russ is a rocking duo that formed Brian K & The Parkway in 2021. “Killing The Bear,” their debut album, will be released on March 29, 2024. It alludes to ‘70s rock artists such as Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty and Warren Zevon. An invigorating blend of rock, R&B, and soul, “Killing The Bear” represents us not dealing with the root of our issues but instead feeling victorious after looking for simple solutions.
“The Game” opens this album with a track that captivates you off the bat with soulful long-note vocals where if you tune out the musical strumming of the guitar and background clashing of drums, the raw emotions of the vocalist are apparent.
“Wind The Clock,” the lead single of “Killing The Bear,” is an irresistible musical work of art that is upbeat and breezy. It mixes cutting edge pop with rock, where the disco-like beat of drums and strumming of bass and the vocalist’s variable vocal range build the track’s structure.
“Peacefully” brings “Killing The Bear” to a close with a soulful, slow-paced track that will have you closing your eyes and swaying side to side while deeply feeling the song.
Brian K & The Parkway will doubtlessly draw in a large indie rock-loving fanbase with the debut of “Killing The Bear.” The great news is that they declared an early tour schedule in favor of their new album, and tickets are presently available!
