Kreis by Deve: Review

Lofi and moody pop meet together to form the delightful “Kreis” by fresh artist Deve. His style of poetry and the music that comes along with it reminds me of late nights working on a piece of my own while neo-soul guitar chords loop continuously. Every portion from the singing to the instrumentation of “Kreis” is euphoric, dreamy, and downright excellent.
The music initiates with a playful piano piece, while simultaneously a clean guitar arrangement drops. My college years would have been incomplete without the company of blues and jazz. For reasons unknown, years before that I was unfamiliar with that edge of the music biz. After being embarrassed by this fact, I researched heavily about all pathways of jazz, leading me down the road of lofi. I can hear it so clearly and quite brilliantly on Deve’s sound especially the slow movement of melodies and the pattern of the notes. It is structured quite beautifully. For instance, the piano fillers that greet the song from time to time, ain’t that charming when the musical balance reaches bliss?
From an artistic standpoint and being a singing fanatic, I quite enjoyed the sway and tone of the artist’s voice. “Kreis” follows a minimalist lyrical theme all the while immersing the listener into a catchy hook that is tough to back down from. Easy listening at its finest, the track deserves more recognition. Especially the singer and those magical guitar chords at play, man I wish I composed the latter half!
