KULNING, PRIMITIVE by Rusthol: Review

“Kulning, Primitive” is the EDM track that will take you to places you never knew existed. As Rusthol, the artist likes to label it, it’s a hard wave mix. From the very first second, it begins with heavy hitters and distorts, and comes off as an absolute banger. Released on July 7^th of 2022, Rusthol was inspired by the Scandinavian native herding call to lure and call out to their livestock while they’re grazing alongside a green mountainside. This herding call is known as the “Kulning”.

Rusthol did an excellent job of mixing this call into a dystopian beat, with the right amount of distortion. Your search for a mystic multidimensional exo-human wave comes to an end with “Kulning, Primitive” which will have you visualizing your own galaxy, zillions of miles away from earth. If you’re anything like me, you might gravitate towards the textured sounds with minimal glitch-trip, which is nothing short of an uplifting dance beat. Its sharp atmospheric melodies, heavy bass, and modern trap transmit infinite power to put you into a trance almost immediately.

If you love witch house, this track is on the lighter side, although I wouldn’t rule it out completely. Either way, it’s a great listen and I can’t wait for the next release from Rusthol because he’s a hard wave and psychedelic EDM artist in its truest sense!
