L’Electronique des Songes by Haqibatt: Album Review
Cinematic, fresh, and funky, Haqibatt’s album L’Electronique des Songes has abundance of ambient numbers to grace your ears. Each melody from the album combines crisp bass lines with some catchy beats to blend right in with the jazz-style piano and synth pieces.
The album’s musical genesis was very charming, such as tracks like “Cyclostorm”. The bass absolutely rips here, specifically, the slapping and popping elements really added a bunch of color to the peaceful piano arrangement. It has a nice blend of slow jazz and subtle funk that will surely be a perfect balance for anyone’s mood. More upbeat songs such as “Recto Verso” has a dark and moody aura to them, but at the same time, a powerful drive is present. The initiation of it was truly a funk machine that slayed. It was very entertaining to hear the bass go all out! “Moontains” is a very cinematic piece filled with tension and drama. I believe it is primarily because of the piano’s “film score” themed playing technique that was truly a nod to the greats such as Hans Zimmer. The OST King of Cinema once talked about creating a musical conversation through a very light and elegant piano arrangement, and it is something Haqibatt did quite graciously!
In its essence, the album “L’Electronique des Songes” is instrumentally influential and a divine melodic experience to have. It is certainly a voyage one must take, and I urge you all to listen to the magic of Haqibatt.
