Like That by Shriya: Review

18-year-old singer-songwriter Shriya gets seductive in her latest single, “Like That.” Released this July 26, this is a captivating and sensual R&B track that showcases the sensual tenderness this artist is capable of.

The song’s production, done by Hersh Desai and mastered by Latin Grammy nominated mastering engineer Fili Filizzola( Doja Cat and SZA, Harry Styles, and Bieber) is lush and atmospheric. “Like That” opens with a soft, tender, fuzzy guitar chiming over the singer’s sensual humming. The shimmering melodies create a dreamy and intimate soundscape.

Shriya’s vocals are a standout feature of the song. She sweeps us up in her current as she sings soulfully, breathily and sensually. Her lyrics, written all by Shriya herself, are implicitly seductive, exploring the thrill of closeness and intimacy. The song’s catchy chorus and infectious melody make it impossible not to get caught up in the music. On top of that, the beats rustle softly and bring a relaxed momentum to the music.

The music video for “Like That” complements the song’s sensual theme, featuring intimate and suggestive imagery. We see the artist playing and romancing with the shadows of her man in front of hung-up sheets. The background of sheets incorporates intimacy, in that it symbolizes a bed and the shadows of her man on that symbolization illustrate what she fantasizes and longs for.

If you love  R&B, Soul, and Pop artists like Daniel Caesar, Summer Walker, and Erykah Badu, Shriya’s song will definitely touch your soul. An EP is coming up this August, so stay tuned.
