Released on November 29th, this EP was recorded in a single day at Tel Aviv’s BPM College studio, the band strips away the gloss of studio perfection, offering us the music as it was meant to be heard: intimate, unfiltered, and full of soul.
The EP kicks off with “Leaving Home – Live Version,” a haunting 7-minute epic that starts with heavy, grunge-infused rock and builds into a shimmering, mystical energy. The singer’s grainy, somber tone echoes the dark themes of personal reflection, making this track feel like a cathartic release from the weight of the world.
Next, “Virtual Reality – Live Version” comes in with a more upbeat vibe but still packs a punch with its societal critique. The chiming guitars and tapping drums create a catchy melody while the singer tells a story of a woman trapped in a manufactured, idealized version of herself. It’s a sharp commentary wrapped in a melody you’ll find yourself tapping along to.
The energy shifts dramatically with “Too Hot in Heaven – Live Version”, where the band delivers a full-throttle, high-energy performance. The thrashing vocals, grinding guitars, and electrifying, possessed guitar solo make this track a true standout.
Finally, “Isolation – Live Version” offers a bit of respite. This track is introspective, with the singer’s deep, comforting voice delivering lyrics about loneliness, beautifully complemented by ethereal female backing vocals. The warmth and vulnerability here balance the more intense moments of the EP, showing off Happy Generation’s ability to blend grit with heart.
