London-based singer-songwriter Nico Cann hits a sweet spot between nostalgia and raw emotion with his latest single โLose My Mind,โ released on August 29, 2025. Produced by Thomas Mitchener, the track is a love letter to the 1980s, when freedom, inventiveness, and melody ruled the airwaves, but itโs also unmistakably modern with its crisp pop-rock production and unfiltered sincerity. Drawing loose inspiration from The Catcher in the Rye and tinged with the same coming-of-age melancholy found in Bruce Hornsbyโs The End of Innocence, โLose My Mindโ feels like a song pulled straight from a sun-bleached summer memory, where youth and longing intertwine.
The song bursts open with thumping drums and shimmery, fuzzy guitars, immediately pulling listeners into its cinematic pulse. Thereโs a touch of that Roland Jazz Chorus glow, giving the rhythm a vibrant shimmer while the beats hit with addictive precision. Nicoโs thick voice explores the range of infatuation with the euphoria and vulnerability visible in his sentient tone, his delivery teetering between contentment and ache, like someone remembering a love thatโs both gone and still alive somewhere in the heart.
As he croons lines like โYou make me lose my mind when you play like that / The flare of the moon will guide us there,โ the song takes flight, capturing the reckless tenderness of young love and fleeting innocence. The energy builds with every verse, and by the outro, a gritty, soaring guitar solo (courtesy of Nicholas Richards) tears through the haze, sending the song spiraling toward catharsis.
โLose My Mindโ is a modern heart-on-sleeve gem. Cann manages to bottle up nostalgia, vulnerability, and pure melodic fire into one irresistible track. It makes you roll down the windows and remember why music can still make you feel infinite.
