The Australian singer-songwriter, Lara Anderson known for her hit cover of “Build Me Up Buttercup” is now releasing her Debut EP, “Lovesick.” “Lovesick navigates the realms of love, heartache, and self-discovery in five poignant tracks.
The EP begins with “The Day That I Met You,” a heart-wrenching piece that reflects on the inevitability of losing someone even as they enter your life. Lara’s soft, diaristic vocals are accompanied by piano and cinematic string arrangements, grounded by drums and underlying strumming guitars.
In “All I Ever Wanted,” the mournful tone continues, with Lara’s pain elegantly expressed. “Charity” unfolds a tale of self-destructive actions in pursuit of love. The song starts with acoustic guitar strumming and proceeds with more mature, contemplative vocals.
In “Burden,” the artist decides to turn the tables on her lover. Her vocals, while emotive, maintain a reverberating distance. Atmospheric and slow instrumentals accompany her realization of the power she holds to hurt as she has been hurt.
The final track, “Don’t Forget to Kiss Me,” brings a seasoned and softly and ethereally anthemic side to Lara’s vocals. Here, she holds out a final chance for her partner to hold her before she departs.
“Lovesick” invites you to get lost in Lara Anderson’s delicacy and elegance as she delivers poignant lyrics. Proving to be a storyteller beyond her years and through her tears, she sings a song highly relatable.
So get on a fever ride with “Lovesick” on Apple Music, Spotify, Soundcloud, and other major platforms.
