Just put on your headphones and put on Lucky by MINA. If you are at least a little cultured or have been listening to music for awhile, you know what it’s about. The Swiss singer’s rendition of Lucky, originally sung by Britney Spears, is a much more soulful and sorrowful version. She has bent the genre toward R&B and Jazz to best enhance her own vocal styling.
“Lucky” by MINA is a smooth and sultry R&B track that showcases the singer’s mesmerizing vocals and impressive range. The song’s production is top-notch, with a sleek beat and hypnotic melody that perfectly complement Mina’s vocals.
From the very first note, Mina’s voice is entrancing, drawing the listener in with its silky tone and emotive delivery. She effortlessly navigates the song’s various runs and inflections, showcasing her impressive vocal control and range.
There have been many chronicles of this song so far. We won’t compare other takes. However, MINA’s way of combining the original catchy beat with a melancholic vintage vibe definitely puts her rendition among the best in the class. We don’t believe there could be a better tribute to the plight of Britney Spears that has unfolded since the beginning of her music career than with MINA’s deep and low register with her tender mezzo-soprano timbre, giving the song the emphasis it requires.
Shout-out to her mentor Nathan Britton and established producer Brando Walker, who developed MINA into the artist she is today and for whom we are hearing this masterful track, “Lucky.” Listen to this newly released song right now to know the difference between mainstream music and art!
