Tucson, Arizona-based guitarist and songwriter Brian Berggoetz brings us touched and soothed with his latest EP, Magical Times, released on March 31.
Berggoetz gives us a gist of the entire EP straightaway by opening it with the title track, “Magical Times.” This shimmering ode to the beauty of simpler days with guitar strumming away with uplifting warmth and optimism.
One standout track is Berggoetz’s cover of Johnny Cash’s classic “Folsom Prison Blues.” Putting his own spin on the iconic song, Berggoetz delivers a more intriguing and soulful rendition. The choir brings vibrance and emotion to the context with their soul-stirring performance.
In “Your Heart and Me,” Berggoetz haunts his ghostly vocals trailing lowly amidst enchanting strumming guitar in a beautiful ballad. His soulful commitment towards love is intensified with grandeur with orchestral music as the song culminates.
Magical Times concludes with the ethereal lullaby “MLK.” Berggoetz brings surging emotion and vulnerability, while tender female backing vocals bring richness to the track. The wail of the strings ends the song powerfully and palpably, leaving us touched and inspired.
Aside from recording, Berggoetz has proved to be a strong performer throughout his career, having performed impressively in the past and sharing the stage with internationally respected acts like Reverend Horton Heat and Charlie Sexton.
Listen to Magical Times by Brian Berggoetz to be captivated by heartfelt storytelling, soulful melodies, and authentic Americana sounds inspired by the best, like Bruce Springsteen and John Cougar Mellencamp.
