Metamorphosis by daarling: Review
The band daarling was founded in 2018 as a joint effort among friends. In addition to performing at venues and DIY spaces in Chicago, they have also toured notable familiar places in northern Michigan. The band’s track “Metamorphosis” pertains to the mood of alternative rock that may take you down the rabbit hole of nostalgia and bring back feelings of teen angst and hormonal uprisal with ease. Well, I don’t know about you, but that sounds like a blast to me.
The essence of Metamorphosis surrounds itself with that familiar scent of reverberated guitar notes with a heavily distorted riff arrangement. These two elements alone will take you back to an era when all the anxiety of being careful in a pandemic did not exist. People just gathered around concert halls without masks and breathed in the air of rock and roll. I truly admire the mystery around the singer’s voice, her attitude shifts on the edge of punk rock but nevertheless has a vibe going on that just oozes style.
There is no friction in daarling’s harmonic arrangements, rather their synergy is an absolute powerhouse. Lit with a captivating chorus section that might just make you jump uncontrollably, if you aren’t careful the song might bind that kinda spell on you. The overall personality of Metamorphosis has me quite hooked, and with the song available for streaming, it is without a doubt many will line up to hear the band’s bold presence.
